EO Design was the successful tenderer for the Wyndham Leisure and Events Centre redevelopment at 80 Derrimut Road, Hoppers Crossing for Adco Construction on behalf of the Wyndham City Council. The site is to be provided with a very extensive Audio Visual system.
The site has two distinct areas – the Aquatic Centre and the Events Centre.
Within the aquatic centre the following areas had Audio Visual Services:
- Main reception
- Main Pool Area
- Warm Water Pool
- Leisure Pool
- Staff Area
- Pool External Zone
Within the Events Centre the following areas required Audio Visual Services:
- 3 x Breakout Rooms
- 4 x Multipurpose Rooms
- Main Internal Street
- Staff Administration Areas
- Rear Entry
- Change Rooms and Green Room
The project featured the implementation of a vast many of the latest technologies in the AVT industry. The most notable are briefly highlighted below:
– The whole site includes IPTV, digital signage and room booking systems, comprising of a digital head-end with IP encoding of all locally available digital free-to-air television channels, two (2) house channels and up to four (4) pay television channels, servers, software, displays, core and edge switches and decoders, with distribution over a low-latency multicast Ethernet network.
The Outdoor Piazza features a large LED video wall that is 7,000mm wide and 4,000mm high. The pitch of the screen is 10mm so is suitable for viewing high resolution video and digital signage.
The whole site includes an 18 zone digital public address system.
The auditorium includes a high performance sound reinforcement system that can be used for any type of performance. The speakers system is based on the Jands JBL-VRX series and an extensive Ease plot was developed to ensure optimum audio levels were achieved.
The whole site utilises a very large 32 Input x 32 Output Digital Media Video Matrix solution, which essentially allows for any input within the venue to be routed to any of the many data projection and LED monitors within the venue.
As the building involved major demolition and then re construction of various areas, the project was broken into two stages. The first stage was the infrastructure and speaker rough in which took around 18 months to complete. The second stage was the fit of and comissiong stage. This took around 6 months to complete.
