Eo Design successfully tendered to win the extensive audio-visual installation fit-out contract with Laing O’Rourke for the Grey Street Expansion of the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre.
The Centre has been voted Number 1 in the Top 10 Convention Centres in Australia by Management Today, the monthly magazine of the Australian Institute of Management. The Centre was judged on innovative design, accessibility, product offering and services. An integral part of the BCEC’s product offering are the audio-visual systems.
The Grey Street Expansion of the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre (BCEC) comprises of:
- Ball Room
- 600 Pax Auditorium
- 400 Pax Auditorium
- 3 x triple combining meeting rooms
- 2 x Boardrooms
- 1 x Function Room
- 3 x Small Meeting rooms
In addition to the dedicated function spaces EO Design installed the AV patching infrastructure for the entire expansion which provided the ability to patch any given signal, anywhere in the building. A Cobranet over copper and fibre network system to host the Public Address and Background Music System was also installed with full digital Sound processing (DSP).
All Cabling and equipment was designed to meet the highest of Signal Quality (3G-SDI)to ensure unsurpassed fidelity and performance.
In-house AV operators at BCEC have been provided with a AMX touch panels in all rooms that include mixing and 3 Band Parametric EQ for every channel and source/destination routing to anywhere in the building using Cobranet Technology.
Speaker systems were discreetly integrated into the building fabric to be unobtrusive to the stunning architecture.
Eo Design overcame all challenges with the project that was hit by the Queensland Flood Crisis during the middle of construction along with significant delays by other trades. The project was successfully handed over to the client on the 28th February 2012 and Eo Design continue to support the venue and BCEC AV personal in ongoing operations and maintenance.
